Trade-in, private sale or dealer price: what's the difference?
The trade-in value is what a dealer would likely pay you for the car today. The private-sale range is what to list it at: the low end sells in about 2 weeks, the high end in about 6. The dealer price is what dealers ask when they resell the same car, which includes their reconditioning, warranty and margin.
